Legal Disclaimer

Please read this Disclaimer carefully before using Court Records. Your use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the terms below.

Effective Date: April 24, 2026 · Last Updated: April 24, 2026

1. Not Legal Advice

The content on Court Records is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be, and should not be construed as, legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of this Site, by sending us email, by reading our guides, or by any other interaction.

Laws change frequently. Court procedures vary by jurisdiction. Case-specific strategy requires individualized analysis that we cannot provide. If you have a legal problem — pending litigation, a criminal charge, an immigration matter, a dispute over property, or any other specific legal issue — consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

2. Not a Government Agency

Court Records is a privately operated website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by:

  • The Superior Court of any state or county
  • The U.S. Courts system or PACER
  • Any federal, state, or local government agency
  • Any court clerk’s office, recorder’s office, or tax collector

Government URLs we link to are the property of their respective agencies. We provide these links for your convenience; we do not operate or control these external sites. When you click a government link, you leave our Site and are subject to the destination site’s terms and privacy policies.

3. Not a Consumer Reporting Agency (FCRA)

Not for Employment or Tenant Screening Court Records is NOT a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Information on our Site may not be used to make decisions about:
  • Employment — hiring, promotion, retention, or reassignment
  • Housing — rental applications, tenant screening, or lease approval
  • Credit — loans, mortgages, or credit card applications
  • Insurance — underwriting or policy decisions
  • Government benefits or licenses — eligibility determinations
  • Any other purpose covered by the FCRA

For FCRA-compliant background checks, engage a licensed consumer reporting agency. For fingerprint-based criminal history checks, use California DOJ Live Scan, the FBI Identity History Summary Check, or an equivalent authorized service in your state.

4. Accuracy & Completeness Disclaimer

We strive to provide accurate, current, and complete information. However:

  • Court systems change constantly. Fees are updated. Websites are redesigned. Offices relocate. Judges rotate assignments. What was accurate when we published may not be accurate today.
  • We cannot guarantee accuracy. Despite our quarterly review cycle, errors and omissions will occur. Always verify critical information (filing deadlines, fees, addresses, procedures) directly with the court or agency before relying on it.
  • No warranty. The Site is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

5. Not a Records Database

Court Records does not maintain, host, or provide access to:

  • Criminal records or arrest records
  • Civil case files or court dockets
  • Divorce decrees or family court orders
  • Probate filings or wills
  • Property deeds or title records
  • Any other court or government records

We publish guides explaining how to access these records through official government sources. We do not hold the records ourselves. Please do not send us requests to “look up” or “search for” records about yourself or others — we have no such capability.

6. Third-Party Links

Our guides link to external websites, including government portals, court systems, and occasionally private services (such as UniCourt, Trellis, or NETR Online). We provide these links for convenience. We do not:

  • Endorse the content, policies, or practices of external sites
  • Guarantee the accuracy, legality, or safety of external sites
  • Control changes made to external sites after publication
  • Accept responsibility for broken, moved, or removed external links

Your use of any external site is at your own risk and subject to the terms and privacy policies of that site.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on Court Records — including text, graphics, logos, images, and guide structures — is the property of Court Records or its licensors and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may view and print our guides for personal, non-commercial use. Any other use — including reproduction, modification, distribution, republication, scraping, or incorporation into another work — requires our prior written permission. Contact press@court-records.org for licensing inquiries.

8. Limitation of Liability

This limitation includes but is not limited to damages for:

  • Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in our guides
  • Decisions made based on our content
  • Loss of rights or opportunities due to reliance on our information
  • Missed deadlines, including filing deadlines and appeal windows
  • Incorrect interpretation of court procedures or legal rules
  • Any action taken or not taken based on our content
  • Service interruptions, data loss, or technical issues with the Site

9. Indemnification

By using Court Records, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Court Records and its operators, employees, contributors, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of this Disclaimer, your misuse of the Site or its content, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

10. User-Submitted Content

If you submit feedback, corrections, comments, or other content to us (through the contact form, email, or otherwise), you grant Court Records a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, modify, and publish that content in connection with improving our guides. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.

11. Professional Advice Required

For specific situations, you should consult qualified professionals:

  • Attorneys — for legal strategy, representation, and specific case advice
  • Certified public accountants or tax professionals — for tax implications of court judgments or settlements
  • Licensed investigators — for formal background investigations
  • Title insurance companies — for comprehensive property title searches
  • Immigration attorneys — for visa, green card, or naturalization matters

12. Jurisdiction & Governing Law

This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of the United States without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from your use of Court Records shall be resolved in the federal or state courts located in the United States. By using the Site, you consent to personal jurisdiction in such courts.

One Final Reminder If you are facing a court date, filing deadline, or legal matter that could affect your rights, your freedom, your property, or your family — talk to a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. Court Records cannot replace legal counsel, and reliance on our guides alone for significant legal decisions is not recommended.
